Side project: Websites for authors + creatives

As a marketing strategist for 15+ years, I have worked with teams on a number of website rebrands and overhauls throughout my career. And as a longtime copywriter and PR strategist, I’ve had to learn the ins and outs of many different website platforms. I’m also fortunate to have a global network of interesting writer, author, and artist friends through my world travels.

Thus, a wild little side hustle was born in 2023 — working with authors & other creatives to create simple portfolio websites to showcase their work.

I helped one established author, Eddy L. Harris, to completely rework his public persona and to showcase his published works and speaking engagements. He has 4 published books in English, 2 in French, and many republished in additional languages. He’s also a sought-after speaker, and has presented at universities and organizations across the US and Europe.

“It was such a pleasure to work with Xylia — she went above and beyond for me. I love the website she created and much appreciate the handholding throughout the process.

Her help with understanding the site, her insights into branding, and her lessons post-creation were invaluable.”

— Eddy L. Harris, Writer / Lecturer / Filmmaker

I also worked with Renée Ozburn, a retired judge, published essayist, and aspiring novelist to express her creative side with a new website. We launched it right before she was invited by Stanford University to read her work at San Francisco's Lit Crawl, a massive, one-night literary pub crawl. She is seeking representation for her debut novel, and wanted to put her best foot forward to potential publishers with this new website.

“Meeting Xylia in a Paris travel writing class was a fortuitous turn of events I will always be grateful for.

After learning that she designed websites, I contracted with her to make my nascent writer’s website more compelling. Her redesign took my website to a whole new level. Xylia is professional, personable, and easy to work with. I highly recommend her.”
